Biography

Joseph Suffolk was born in 1877. He was the son of Archibald Suffolk and Sarah Goodsell. [1]

Joseph married Margaret Dickson at Lismore or Coraki in 1900.[2]

He passed away on the 23rd February 1937.[3][4]

Retrieved April 22, 2017, from http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article193512259 The funeral took place at the Tweed Heads cemetery yesterday of Mr. Joseph Suffolk, who died in Gympie Hospital on Monday night. The deceased had been a resident of Tweed Heads district for the past 12 years. Some two years ago, Mr. Suffolk took over a banana plantation of Pomona (Q.) and has resided there most of that time. About a fortnight ago he was stricken with haemorrhage of the brain and was taken to Gympie hospital, where a second attack caused his death. The late Mr. Suffolk was born at Shoalhaven 59 years ago, and was married at Lismore to Miss Maggie Dixon. Besides a widow he leaves a family of four daughters and one son. The daughters are Mrs. M. Bonus (Tweed Heads), Mrs. T. Clune (Coolangatta), Mrs. C. C'Neill (Tweed Heads) and Beryl. The son, Harry, also resides with his mother. Messrs. Harry and George Suffolk (Nimbin) and Archie Suffolk (Tomerong, South Coast) are brothers, and the sisters are Mrs. C. Hawkens (Murwillumbah), Mrs. Efston (Nowra), Mrs. E. Atkins (Coff's Harbor) and Mrs. E. Wooley (Lismore). The late Mr. Suffolk was a member of the Manchester Unity Order of Oddfellows and many of the members of the Tweed Heads branch at tended at the graveside. The burial service was conducted by Rev. W. Hopwood Evans and Messrs. Barrett and Co. attended to the funeral ar rangements. Pall-bearers at the gravside were Messrs. H. Suffolk (brother), M. Bonus (son-in-law), E. Hawkens (nephew), H. McKay, C. Barrett and G. Stokes.
