Alexander Sullivan, 80, died at a local hospital Monday afternoon after an illness of a few hours.

He had lived in Jackson for the past 10 years and was the owner of a fruit and grocery store located at 527 Monument St. He was a native of Simpson County, a member of the Coats Baptist Church in Simpson County, and a member of the James A. Myers 619, Masonic Lodge.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Alex. Sullivan, Jackson; six sons, Wadeen Sullivan, Jackson, Tenn.; M. L. Sullivan, Van Sullivan, A. D. Sullivan, Barney Sullivan, and Hilton Sullivan, all of Magee; five daughters, Mrs. Corinne Palmer, Mrs. Thelma [sic s/b Velma] Dykes, and Mrs. Earl Sasser, all of Jackson, Mrs. Elvie Sullivan, Magee and Mrs. Carme Leonard, Mt. Olive; four sisters, Mrs. Alma Sullivan and Mrs. Lela Sullivan, Jackson, Mrs. Ada Runnels, Magee, and Miss Annie Sullivan, Magee; 34 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Baldwin Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Causey officiating, with interment in the Cedarlawn Cemetery and Masonic Rites at the graveside.

Active pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Order, James A. Myers Lodge of Jackson.

Baldwin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
