I am trying to locate my grandmother's family. She was Mabel Alice Heath Swain. Her mother is listed as Emily Elizabeth Swain but no father is indicated. Both came from Hastings England. Any chance you can help me out?
Swaim-62 and Swain-118 appear to represent the same person because: This family of "Swaims" was created with the wrong surname. See note posted on Edward Swaim
This LNAB should be Swain. The surname Swaim originated in the Staten Island area of pre-revolutionary New York with the immigrant Mattijss Barentsz of Leerdam. There was an English family that came to the new land around the same time, but primarily stayed to Coastal areas. They were mostly fishermen and seafaring merchants.
