Biography

Robert Clare Symons (1948).

I was born in St. Catharines, Ontario, July 26, 1948, son of William Paul Symons and Barbara Ruth Sutherland. My maternal ancestors are from Scotland. My paternal ancestors are from England. I attended public school & high school in St. Catharines, Ontario.

I first came to Kitchener-Waterloo in 1967 as a co-op math student at the University of Waterloo. I lived in residence at St. Paul's College, and a few of us went to Trinity United, Kitchener twice a week to sing in the choir. Helen & I were married at Trinity in 1973 and we have two grown children and one grand-daughter, at time of writing this biography (2017).

http://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Symons-Family-Tree-612 to view my family tree and get back to the Worden family and antiquity... I did the data entry for this internet based website. My father was William Paul Symons (1921-2016), Canadian RCAF navigator (Lancaster bombers RAF 5 group), Mountainview United church founder, and great dad! Family Tree for William Paul Symons www.wikitree.com Genealogy of Paul Symons born September 30, 1921 in Port Hope, Durham County, Ontario.

I worked numerous other contracts and home based activities including Church School teacher, church quarterly newsletter editing, boy scout leader (beavers, cubs and scouts), church choir member, mens' group, Royal Lifesaving, food server and dishwasher, cleanup residence kitchen, theatre usher, telephone book delivery man. But my favorite pastime is gardening with a full yard of plants, raspberries, pears, rhubarb and assorted trees and bushes.

Bob, Thank you very much for the work you have done on the Leavens family. I/my cousins are descended of Eli Seely McConnell Sr. We are actively, and avidly seeking the maiden name of his second wife Roxy (Roxalane, etc) McConnell. Roxy McConnell was involved in the Friends movement in Prince Edward County until she was asked to leave because she did not dress plainly enough. Please contact us if you might happen to find information as to Roxy's maiden name or any other firm information about her (date of birth, location of birth, probably NY, date of marriage to Eli Sr, remarriage after Eli's death, her death). Thanks very much!

Bob, do you happen to speak any other languages? Would you check out our languages template and add it to your biography? For example you might add

{{ Languages | en | fr-2 | ga-1 }}

to the top of your biography if you speak English natively, intermediate French and basic Irish, or you could use de-4 to specify near-native German or ru-1 for basic Russian, and so forth up to ten languages.

It really helps to know who speaks all the different languages used on WikiTree! If you only speak English, you're very welcome to use this text to make that clear:

{{ Languages | en }}

Thanks,

Karen

Thank you for cleaning up Edward Turner Worden's profile. I did make some updates as to the dates when my mother's family went to Iowa from New York, which was mentioned in my great-grandfather's obituary in 1985 (my great-grandfather was Claude Edward Worden).

"Aunt Ila" (aka Ida) was born in 1909 and my maternal grandfather, Melvin, was born in 1912. They stayed with Edward after their mother, Clarice, died in the Swine Flu Epidemic of 1919.

Other sources of my information also come from Edward & Kitty's family bible, which my oldest Worden uncle has.

Hi, Bob!

Thank you for merging the Thomas Worden profiles. Now that the parents are merged, I've edited the profiles for the children. You may want to check them all out. There are a few additions and changes, all according to The History of Ogle County, Illinois, 1878.

Are you a Worden family relative? How come you don't have any family at all connected to your profile & family tree?

Hello! Thank you for your interest in Worden-134 but I'm confused why you changed his birth mother. His father's profile indicates it was Mary. Let me know what you've found and we'll work together on the profile. - Heather
