Dr. Elam Dowden Talbott, 10th child of Richard and Margaret (Dowden) Talbott, was a physician in Barbour, Virginia. He married Julie Ann Capito, more than ten years his junior, after living with her family (captured in the 1850 census). He was a slave owner and Confederate sympathizer. He died in 1881 at age 70.
