John Talbot Sr. was a Maryland colonist.
John was a Friend (Quaker)

Origin

John Talbott was the third son of Edward Talbott and Elizabeth Thomas. No birth record for him has been found, but he was likely born in West River area of Anne Arundel County about 1684. When his father died he left John hald of his home plantation, half of "Talbott's Resolution Manor," "Talbott's Plains," and one-fourth of his personal estate. [1]

Marriage

About 1705, he married Elizabeth Galloway, daughter of Samuel Galloway, having declared their intentions of marriage the first time at the West River Monthly Meeing of Friends on 13 Jul 1705.[2] It is unclear if there were any children of this union, and by 11 Jul 1707, John and Mary Waters had declared their first intentions to marry.

John and Mary lived on Poplar Knowle and had the following children:

  1. Cassandra Talbott, b. 21 Apr 1798.
  2. Elizabeth Talbott, b. abt. 1711
  3. Lucy Talbott, b. abt. 1714
  4. John Talbott, b. abt. 1720
  5. Edward Talbott, b. 15 Jul 1723

Property

On 30 Aug 1714, "Talbott's Resolution Manor" was patented to John and his sister.[3] He sold 150 acres of "Talbott's Plains" to William Parrish on 2 Jan 1718/19, [4] and sold the remaining half to Sabrett Sollers.[5] On 14 Apr 1718, he purchased two tracts of land from Alice Barrett called "Barrett's Delight," containing 200 acres, and "Barrett's Addition," containing 190 acres.[6]

Wife Elizabeth Galloway is disputed. More research is needed here.

In John Websters Will he divided his estate between his children from a previous marriage and their children.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

The "Thomas Book" referenced by Ida Morrison (Murphy) Shirk and mentioned in the previous comment is, "The Thomas Book giving the Genealogies of Sir Rhys Ap Thomas, K.G., the Thomas Family descended from him, and some Allied Families" by Lawrence Buckley Thomas, D D., 1896. A copy of it can be found on the Internet Archive web site at https://archive.org/details/thomasbookgivin00thomgoog/page/n9/mode/1up.
The book "Descendants of Richard and Elizabeth (Ewen) Talbott of Poplar Knowle West River Anne Arundel County Maryland" was compiled by Ida Morrison (Murphy) Shirk, not Shrink. A copy of the book can be viewed on the HathiTrust website at https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=wu.89066057365&view=1up&seq=9. As for John's marriage to Elizabeth Galloway, Mrs. Shirk on page 33 of her book says John "married probably in the autumn of 1705, Elizabeth, second daughter of Samuel Galloway. Samuel Galloway, eldest son of Samuel and Sarah Galloway of West river, was born 8 Oct., 1682, and died 1723. His father, who was the eldest son of Richard Galloway, immigrant, and Hannah his wife, was born 7 Oct., 1659 (Thomas Book, pp. 317-20)." Mrs. Shirk then continues, "'Att a monthly meeting at our meeting house at West River the 13 of ye 5 mo. 1705, John Talbott & Eliz. Galloway laid their intentions of marriage before this meeting it being the first time This meeting appoints Mordecaii Moore and John Giles to make enquiry concerning their clearness from former Ingagements on account of marriage consent of parents and relatives &c and that they return account of ye same to the next Quarterly meeting at the house of Samuel Chew at Herring Creek' (Record West River Meeting). Their married life was a brief one, and within two years after her death he married again."
Talbot-2614 and Talbot-52 appear to represent the same person because: clear duplicate, though there seems to be some confusion about the exact marriage date. Maybe one is the marriage contract date?

The Gordon Talbert source claims his son Benjamin had a mother Elizabeth Galloway, but it is not clear if she would be this Elizabeth Galloway, whose existence and parents seem to be in dispute, although the family is from the same area.
