Osmond TAPLEY died at his residence Hodgdon Road on Thursday 3rd April, age 74. Another descendant of the old Loyalists who came to this country in 1783 has passed to his rest. Deceased was born at Pleasant Valley, St. John and came to Woodstock when quite young with his aunt, Mrs. PEABODY, with whom he resided for upwards of twenty years. When 23 years of age, he was united in marriage to his first wife, Amelia STOKES with whom he removed to his late location and took up a farm, following agriculture during the remainder of his life. After twenty years of happy married life, his partner passed away, leving behind six sons and four daughters, two sons having died before her decease. About a year after his bereavement, he married his second wife, Mary BOND who died three years ago, leaving two sons and three daughters, the issue of the last marriage having preceded her to the spirit land. Deceased was a member of the English Church and had enrolled in the Orange ranks during the troubles of 1847. He received a common school education in his boyhood. His remains were consigned to their last resting place in Lower Woodstock cemetery on Good Friday. Rev. Canon Neales conducted the funeral service.
