Parents

There is no credible proof linking her to Stephen Tarleton. Since she was not mentioned in his will, she needs to be detached from these parents until credible proof can be found.

Given that Sarah Tarleton was not included in Stephen Tarleton's will, a source is needed to prove she was indeed his daughter.

*Could Sarah Tarleton be the illegitimate child of Stephen Tarleton and Mary Gunnell?

Could Sarah Tarleton be the illegitimate child of Stephen Tarleton and Mary Gunnell?

Tarleton-597 and Tarleton-9 appear to represent the same person because: Please merge these two. They are the same except for DOB.

Thank you

Given that the bio refers to a 1663 and a 1675 birth date for this Sarah and that the will of Stephen does not mention a daughter Sarah, have one two many merges been done for Sarah Tarletons?
posted by Virginia Winslett
Apparently her will was proved 8 Jan 1722/3, see Hughes-14151 and Atkinson-6882. It was her daughter Sarah (Hughes) Atkinson who was mentioned as dead on 19 May 1730.

Sorry, forget that. It's more complicated.

FamilySearch.org lists Sarah as the wife of Jesse John Hughes, Hughes-515 L8QT-BCG, meaning that this is a duplicate of Sarah (Tarleton) Hughes, Tarleton-9 L21C-1BD, if that is true.

Either way, she is my 8th Great Grandmother.

Tarleton-9 and Tarleton-208 appear to represent the same person because: same first name, last name, maiden name, birth location, same siblings, same daughter, same death state, same death date.

By Forrest Mullins June 07, 2010 at 01:06:59 "I don't recall how the name "Jesse" got (erroneously, I believe) in these early Hughes, but it was Robert Hughes that was the husband of Sarah Tarleton.Sarah's will is posted in Deed Book 1, p. 188:Will of Sarah Hughes of St. James Parish, Henrico County, dated 8 January 1723, proved 19 May 1730: 1) son Stephen 2) son Robert 3) Ashford Hughes 4) daughter Sarah Atkinson 5) daughter Elizabeth Liles 6) daughter Mary Hughes 7) son Isaac Hughes 8) granddaughter Elizabeth Cannon

Her husband was Robert Hughes, b. c1650, d. abt 1720, Henrico Co., VA."

Tarleton-52 and Tarleton-16 are not ready to be merged because: dates are different as well as the mothers names. More research needed before these are merged.
