Biography

Titus was born in Killingworth, CT in 1756.[1] He was the son of Oliver and Ruth (Hurd) Teall.

1776 Project
Private Titus Teal served with 6th Connecticut Provincial Regiment (1775), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Titus enlisted in the Connecticut militia on the same day as his brother, Timothy in 1775.[2] He fought with the 4th Connecticut Regiment under Capt. Robert Hallam as a private. (NOTE: The source given says that the brothers were enrolled in the 6th Regiment, commanded by Colonel Samuel Holden Parsons.) Titus was stationed in Valley Forge during the winter of 1778. The muster rolls show that he was "Sick Absent" Dec. 1777 and the same Jan. 1778.[3]

He died of small-pox[4] at Valley Forge on February 2nd.[3] He was 21 years old.
