Biography

Elnatha Tew was born at Newport on Oct. 15, 1644, daughter of Richard and Mary (Clarke) Tew. [1](p. 394)[2]

She married Thomas Harris on Nov. 3, 1664. [1] Thomas was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Harris. [2]

He died at Providence on Feb. 27, 1710/11.[3]

In the will of her husband Thomas, proved April 16, 1711, he left bequests to:

  • wife Elnathan
  • eldest son Thomas
  • son Henry
  • son Richard
  • son Nicholas
  • son William
  • daughter Amity Morse
  • daughter Elnathan Harris
  • daughter Mary Harris (p. 310[2]

Elnathan died on Jan. 11, 1718. [4]

Elnathan (Tew) Harris, death Jan. 11, 1718, wife of Thomas and daughter of Richard and Mary (Clarke) Tew is buried in the Benjamin C. Harris plot at the North Burial Ground, Providence, RI. Her stone was carved by George Allen. Her grave was moved from the Elnathan Harris Lot, (JN065) in Manton/Johnston, Rhode Island.[5]
