Benjamin Thacker was born about 1730 in what became Goochland County.
Benjamin died in 1799 in Albemarle County, Virginia
Notes
Benjamin married three times, and there is considerable confusion about which wife bore which children to him. The contributor of one the most complete descendant lists about him warns:
“UNCERTAINTY REMAINS REGARDING SOME OF THE CHILDREN OF BENJAMIN THACKER, PARTICULARLY IN RELATION TO WHICH OF HIS WIVES BORE CERTAIN CHILDREN.”
Benjamin Thacker married Ruth Bowels on 2 Jul 1757 in Goochland County. She was 18 years old, he was 37 years old. The sources available to me disagree on the number of children (one to ten) and the dates of birth of children the couple had. Ruth Bowles Thacker died in 1767 in Fluvanna County, Virginia. Fortunately, the information consistently reflects our line descends through first wife, Ruth Bowles (or Bowls), who was the great granddaughter of John Bowles and Jane Ellenor Parsons and William Knight and Agnes Coffey.
They had a daughter Marianne, born July 2, 1757 And a son named Benjamin who was born 01/14/1759. ??
Benjamin remarried twice, first to Neffany Emmerson in 1767.
Benjamin's last to marriage was to Martha Sprouse in 1783.

Conflicting evidence states that he was born on Jan.. 14, 1757 and not 1759. (This is talking about this Benjamin's son.)

More
SPOUSE (Ruth Bowls): [2] The entries for the births of Benjamin's children
Marianne, Benjamin, and Nathaniel gives his wife's full (maiden) name.
SPOUSE (Neffeny Emmerson):[3] Marriage of Benjamin Thacker and Neffeny
Emmerson.
SPOUSE (Martha Sprouse): [4] This is the only
marriage of Benjamin Thacker to a Martha (see reference to Benjamin's will below).
The following facts indicate that it was the same Benjamin Thacker who married and had children in Goochland County (1757-1769), who married in Fluvanna County in 1783, and who died in Albemarle County about 1799:
(1) Two of the three children recorded as born to Benjamin Thacker in Goochland County (Benjamin and Nathaniel) are listed as children in the will of Benjamin Thacker in Albemarle County.
(2) In 1777, Benjamin Thacker and his wife "Nephfa" sold land in Fluvanna County (Fluvanna County Deed Book 1, page 60). "Nephfa" seems to be a variation of Neffeny/Naphena, the bride's name in the 1767 marriage in Goochland County and the mother's name in the 1769 record of daughter Milley Thacker's birth in Goochland.
(3) The Revolutionary War pension file of Benjamin's son, Daniel, states that he enlisted in Fluvanna County, Virginia (National Archives, Washington, D.C.).
(4) In March 1783, Benjamin Thacker executed a deed of gift to his son Nathaniel Thacker -- again, the name of one of the children born in Goochland -- for land in Fluvanna County[5]
(5) Also in March 1783, Benjamin executed a similar deed of gift to his son William Thacker [6]. No wife of Benjamin joined as a grantor on either deed of gift, suggesting that he had become a widow and, thus, supporting the conclusion that he is the same Benjamin Thacker who married Martha Sprouse in April 1783.
(6) These deeds of gift were executed about two months before the marriage of Benjamin Thacker and Martha Sprouse (and recorded on the day of their execution). A man might well want to deed some of his property to his sons before remarrying late in life.
(7) Benjamin Thacker's will in Albemarle County gives his wife's name as Martha -- the same first name as the bride in the April 1783 marriage in Fluvanna County.
(8) That the Benjamin Thacker whose will is cited below is the same one who married Martha Sprouse in 1783 is further indicated by his calling her "my now wife Martha" in a 1786 deed[7]
DEATH DATE/PLACE, SPOUSE (Martha): Will of Benjamin Thacker;
[8] Benjamin and Martha were married at least by 1784, when they executed a deed together

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Benjamin by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Benjamin:
The last will and testament excluding the last name Thacker as the sur name might indicate that the daughters are Martha's from a previous marriage or his daughters married to a Sprouse....especially in the case of Elerton Thacker Sprouse where his surname is explicitly stated.

Thacker Sr-1 and Thacker-128 appear to represent the same person because: I support the merger. In my research, Benjamin Aker Thacker had only one son named Daniel Thacker. I have found no vital record that indicated his proper name should be Daniel Thacker Sr.
As a member of the US Black Heritage Project, I have added a list of the slaves owned by Benjamin Acker Thacker I (1730-1798) on this profile with categories using the standards of the US Black Heritage Exchange Program. This helps us connect enslaved ancestors to their descendants. See the Heritage Exchange Portal for more information.
