I thought we put a pin in the "Mary Thear" myth years ago. Mary Kear was the widow of Benjamin Kear and William Scaggs. The Richard Scaggs listed in the 1766 record with Mary "Thear" was her step-son, heir-at-law to the estate of William Scaggs. The John Scaggs in that 1766 record was Richard's half-brother, son of Mary and William Scaggs.

I agree with Bill Voit. There is no evidence that this woman existed as shown, or was related as shown.

Thear-13 and Thear-2 appear to represent the same person because: Several duplicate Profiles related to the Skaggs family have been created. This is just one of them.

Mary Thear/Kear only rented land from a Skaggs man. There is no evidence that she has any relationship to James Skaggs..
