Biography

Notes for Cornelia Rebecca Thomas: Before moving to Marion, SC, Absalom and Nealie (grandma Rebecca Cornelia) had been blessed with eleven children. One of those eleven was Martha Ann born in April of 1893. She was a beautiful child, loved in the community so much she was remembered in the diary kept by Jordan G Williams. He called her beautiful young Annie a joy to the community. Martha Ann died at the age of 10. Two more of their children either died at birth or shortly after. In 1920 after the passing of AP, six of the eight remaining children had to go to work. They all worked in the cotton mill industry, Bessie (reeler), Lee (oiler), Minnie (spinner), Florence (spinner), Walker (spinner), Daddy (spinner). Grandma Nealie was a stay home mom with young Thomas aged 10. Aunt Lou from what I understand, was quite sickly and stayed home.By 1930 Bessie, Lee, Minnie, Walker and Daddy had married and moved away. Lou married a few years later and left the roost. Florence married Lonnie Rasberry and they lived with grandma till she died 25 Feb 1951. Thomas the youngest was the last to marry. Her last request was that her grandsons were to be her pallbearers
