He married Mary Holmes in 1873. [1] At the time of this marriage his occupation was listed as farmer. He was 23 years old. His bride was 16 years old. George was identified as a Bible Christian while Mary was listed as Roman Catholic. They were married by license. The officiant was Rev. David Watson.

At the time of the 1851 Canada Census, Rena, Exa, Ira, Unice, Susanna, Mary, David, Jane, and George Thompson (mistranscribed as "Thampson") were listed as living in North Gwillimbury, Ontario. [2]

In the 1881 census, George, Mary Jane, Alberta, Ann Maria, George Alexander and Charles Thompson were living in Medonte Township, Ontario. [3] [4] George's occupation was "Labourer".
