Sarah Thorpe was born about 1772 in East Farleigh, Kent, England. Her birth year is inferred from her ages reported in two different census records: 1841 (of Speldhurst, Kent) & 1861 (of West Farleigh, Kent). In 1841, her age was reported as 70 (inferring birth year 1771) and in 1861 as 88 (inferring birth year 1773). These two census enumerations infer a median birth year of 1772. The 1861 Census also reported Sarah's birth location as East Farleigh, Kent. Her age of 18 is also reported in her marriage record in May 1789.
Sarah was the daughter of Bartholomew Thorpe. She married Thomas Fry in Rochester, Kent, England on May 31, 1789. They had twelve children, namely Robert b. about 1794, David, Eliza(beth), Richard, Edward, Sarah, William, Thomas, James, Henry, John, Rebecca b. about 1800, and Mary b. about 1811.
Sarah [Fry] was still living in 1861 per the 1861 Census record. She is recorded therein as being age 88 and "mother" residing with daughter, husband, and family.
