  • Justina Thurston, "James Family Genealogy by The Heritage Lady"

"In 1712 John James was 24 years old. He met a 19 year old woman, Justina Thurston, and they were married. Almost immediately after the marriage, John and his bride made plans to move to the Colonies in the New World. The young couple were sailing directly to a township, then known as “Martin’s Hundred,” (now known as Carter’s Grove) in the Colony of Virginia, near Jamestown. Justina was coming to claim her inheritance, a home that had been established by her parents, in the late 1600s. The property was comfortably situated along the James River and was known as the “Loveing Estate.” Christopher James was born to them in 1720, also in Martin’s Hundred. Christopher married Lucy Thompson in 1746. They then had John James in 1750." (https://www.theheritagelady.com/james-family-genealogy/ | accessed on 09 Jan 2020)

Their children were born in Martin's Hundred of James City County in Virginia; Thurston, John, Christopher, Thomas, May, James, Jane, Gavin, Robert, William, Mary, Jean and Elizabeth, among others. She died in 1790 at Armsfield Plantation.
