Ellen was born in January 1864. Her parents were Samuel Levi Thurston (1839-1894) and Elizabeth (England) Thurston (1839-1903)

Ellen married Hugh L. McDade on 9 January 1879 in Hickory, Missouri, United States.[2]
In the 1880 census Laranda (age 17), Keeping House, was the wife of Hugh L. McDade in Union Township, Benton, Missouri, United States.[3]
In the 1900 census Ellen (age 37) was the wife of Hughey L McDade in Union Township, Benton, Missouri, United States.[4]
In the 1910 census Ellen (age 47) was the wife of H L McDade in Lindsey Ward 2, Benton, Missouri, United States.[5]
In the 1920 census Lorinda (age 57) was the wife of Hugh L McDade in Lindsey Township, Benton, Missouri, United States.[6]
