Frederick Touchstone, a younger son of Richard and Sarah(Johnson)Touchstone, was appointed co?executor with his motherby his father'swill, dated in Anson County, North Carolina, 16February 1757, by which heand his brother Christopher were to inherit and divide between them twotracts of land on the northside of PeeDee River: 300 acres which Richardbought from JohnFrancis and an adjoining 140 acres which Richardsurveyedhimself. To Frederick was bequeathed a colt. Frederick and[hisbrother] Henry signed the (undated) inventory of theirparents'estate. Frederick married Rose/Rosanna Ashley, a daughter ofJohnand Mary Ashley of Anson County, so named in her father'swill dated 1February 1759, which was witnessed by Christopherand FrederickTouchstone. By Anson County deed dated 15 January1763,

he paid Ł20 to [brother] Henry Touchstone for 250 acres onthe eastside of Little River at Lake Island, originally sold toRichard Touchstoneby John Francis and from Richard descended toHenry. By deed dated 8August 1763, he and wife Rose conveyedland to John Usery.

On 19 September 1771, Frederick was granted200 acres on Cedar Creekin Craven County, North Carolina. The family migrated to South Carolina.

On 9 October 1775, FrederickTouchstone enrolled in Captain AndrewCummings' Company ofVolunteer Militia in Saltcatcher and Edisto Districtof ColletonCounty Regiment of Foot. During the war, he served 102 daysasa Private in Captain James Jones's Edisto Company, ColonelRobertBallingall's Regiment, Colleton County Militia. On 5 June1786, he wasgranted 200 acres in Orangeburgh District. In 1790,Frederick was head ofa household in the southern part ofOrangeburgh County, his familyconsisting of three men aged over16, two boys aged under 16, fourfemales, and one slave. He wasnot listed as a head of household there inthe South Carolina1800 Census. The will of Frederick Touchstone, Sr., ofBarnwellCounty [formed from Orangeburgh in 1798] was dated 19 April1808."My wife Rosanna is to have all the estate as long as shelives, and thenafter she dies [to be divided] equal among myheirs." Two slaves "I rearedfor Elizabeth Touchstone, daughterof Stephen Touchstone," are to goagainst the account which Ihave with her.
