Biography

Benjamin Trefry was born November 3, 1780, the son of Joshua Pitman Trefry and Mary Allen of Chebogue, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia[1]

Note he used an alternate spelling of his surname, Terfry, as did some of his children.

In 1806, he married Rebecca Trask, daughter of Thomas Trask of Yarmouth, and they had children[2], including:

  1. Rebecca Trefrey, born 1806 who married Benjamin Shaw
  2. Mary Trefrey, born 1808 who married William Bacon
  3. Melinda Trefrey, born 1810
  4. Hannah Trefrey, born 1812, who married Joseph Lockhart
  5. Sophia Trefrey, born 1814, who married Oliver Lockhart
  6. Mark Trefrey, born 1818 who married Olivia Kelley
  7. Joshua Pitman Terfrey, born 1820 who married Amanda Fielding
  8. Lavinia Trefrey, born 1822, who married Freeman Mackenzie
  9. Abigail Trefrey, born 1824, who married John Coffin
  10. Thomas Elkanah Trask Trefrey, born 1828, who married Elizabeth Earl

Benjamin died 3 September 1862, and is buried in the Riverbank Cemetery in Hantsport, Nova Scotia along with his wife [3]
