Jerusha was the daughter of Benjamin Tryon and Rebecca Hurlbut. The same document gives her two different birth dates exactly one year apart: March 6, 1741/2 and March 6, 1743. As these were transcriptions from original records, it is possible that the discrepancy is one created by the fact that there are two distinct original records and by the custom of the new year starting on March 23rd, so that dates between January 1 and March 22 were often of the form 1741/2. It could be that the record was for 1742 but in one instance was transcribed as 1741/2 and in the second as 1743.[1]
