Stephen Tuck is born about 1792 in Frome St John the Baptist, Somerset, England, United Kingdom. He is a son of John Tuck and Mary Lane.
He marries Mary Allwood on June 9, 1818 in Frome, Somerset, England.[1]Together they had the following children: Caroline Amelia[2][3] and Arabella Elizabeth[4][5][6][7]
Stephen is a printer living on Church Slope in Frome, where he was rated in 1827 and listed as a printer, stationer and bookseller in 1839. A staunch Methodist, he wrote and printed a History of Wesleyan Methodism in Frome. He later moved to 12 Keyford Terrace where his daughter Arabella kept a ‘Ladies Seminary’.
On the 18th September 1858 Stephen surrendered all his right and interest in the lease to the Marquess of Bath.
A week later on the 25th September 1858 agreement was reached for transfer of title in the property between the 4th Marquess and the Vicar and Churchwardens of Frome Selwood, for the purpose of enlarging the burial ground and widening the approach to the New Mechanics Institution. The inhabitants of Frome Selwood had subscribed £150 for the purpose of purchasing the leasehold interest of the premises.
Stephen died October 26, 1865 in Frome, Somerset, England, United Kingdom.[8][9] He is buried in Frome Dissenters' Cemetery in Frome, Mendip District, Somerset, England.[10]
