Georgia was born in 1885 [1]in the state of Illinois. Story goes that her parents became very ill and both died and she was raised by an Aunt and Uncle. Do not know the names of her relatives that raised her at present. Still researching for parents and siblings. Census records show that Georgia was born in IL, as were both her parents. [2] It is believed that she married in TN to Samuel Cornelius Godwin, where they lived and raised their family until his Death[3][4]She is found in the Calhoun County, MS Census records for 1910. [5] Georgia Turner passed away in 1933 [6] per her death certificate in Hardin County, TN, she is buried there in Mt. Hermon Cemetery. [7]
Georgia had a son Leonard Causby Godwin, who was an invalid and she and he had a shared gravestone.[8]
The 1910 Census shows that Georgia Turner Godwin had 13 children and that 7 were living. [9]
I am not convinced that John A. Turner is the father of Georgia Ann Turner. There is another daughter Annie Jane Turner that was born in 1855 also, but in TN. Georgia Ann Turner Luttrell's death records from the funeral home say she was born in Illinois in 1855. This information was given by her children, one fo which was my grandmother. Still searching for Georgia Ann's family. berfore John A. Turner is detached from this profile.
