On 17th June 1777, Barter Chaffey and Mary Turner were married by Banns in the Parish Church of Sherborne in the County of Dorset. Barter Chaffey made his mark, while Mary Turner signed her name. The ceremony was performed by John Peddle, Curate, and was witnessed by James Hoffe and George Ridout.[2]
