Larkington "Larkin" Turner was the sixth child of Shadrack Turner (1720-1784), Revolutionary War Patriot, and Ann Pollard Hill. Larkin was remembered in Shadrack's will probated July 22, 1784. Descendants of Larkin and his wife, Mary Hickey, are eligible to join the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution [1]
Shadrack Turner's plantation was located near "Hickey's Ordinary and Fort Trial. The "Great Wagon Road," considered to be the most important inland road of Pre-Revolutionary times, wound directly through this area. John Hickey, who owned the last inn and store selling gunpowder, dry goods, cloth, tools and more, known as "Hickey's Ordinary," was Mary Hickey's father and would become Larkin Turner's father-in-law. [2]
Larkington Turner died in 1820, in Cumberland county, Kentucky and is buried in Heard's Burial Ground, in Long Ridge. [3]
