Research notes

The identity of William and Elizabeth's son, Silas, has been confused with the Silas Turner who was born in Virginia in 1798 and died 1 Feb 1872 (aged 73) in Andrew County, Missouri. Silas, born 1798, has been inadvertently inserted in the Find A Grave Memorials of William Turner, his wife Elizabeth Crooks Turner, and their children. Their son Silas was actually born in 1831 in Kentucky.

William and Elizabeth married in 1803 when Elizabeth was 17 years old. In 1798 she was 13 years old. It doesn't seem likely that the Silas born in Virginia in 1798 is their son. All William and Elizabeth's children were born in Madison, Kentucky. Silas Turner (Silas-14809) born in Kentucky in 1831 is more likely their son. In addition, the names of his children correspond with the William Turner family names. His first two children were named William and Elizabeth after his parents. His sister daughter Lucinda, was named after his sister Lucinda and son Squire is the name of his uncle who was named after Squire Boone.
