Biography

Thomas was the son of Larkin Turner, Sr. and Mae Edwards.[1]

Military Service

Thomas fought for the Confederacy in the U.S. Civil War as part of the following regiments:

  • Thirteenth Mississippi Infantry Regiment, Company A (The Winston Guards), Rank: Private.[2]
  • Fifth Mississippi Infantry Regiment, Company D (The New Prospect Greys), Rank: Private.[3]

After the Civil War

Thomas returned home and raised a family with his wife Sarah. He named his first son Larkin Tarrant Turner, a name shared with Thomas's father and Thomas's younger brother who was killed at the Battle of Missionary Ridge during the Siege of Chattanooga in 1863.[4]

Name

Thomas is referred to as "Tom" on the death certificate of his son, Larkin, and by family members who knew him and his children[5].
