@NI04646@ NOTE"During the Civil War a group of Jayhawkers stopped at the home of afamily named Bran who lived on Sylamore Creek. All the men in the Branfamily were fighting the war. The Jayhawkers stayed all night. Theyemptied their saddle bags on the floor in front of the fireplace. Bran'ssaid there was a large pile of Gold and Silver Coins. After breakfast thenext day they left going up the creek west and stopped at a spring whereJohnsons washed their clothes because the water was so soft. They stolethe Gypsey Wash Kettle and poured the money into the Kettle and leftgoing west with the Kettle being carried between two men on horseback.The Jayhawkers were killed by Nancy Catherine Turner Ferris and otherwomen and children in the yard where Bob Steward lives, but the Kettleand Money were never found."
