Darius was born in March 4, 1840 in Maine. He was born as Darius Tuttle to Trueworthy Tuttle and Susan Bunker. Susan returned to live with her parents and her children were adopted by her father, Francis Bunker. Darius took the name of Darius Bunker and frequently used the name Daniel Bunker.
Darius Bunker was a Civil War Veteran: Enlisted as a Private on 4 June 1861 at the age of 22 in Company F, 3rd Infantry Regiment Maine.
He married in about 1864 Adele McLaskey and they had three children.
Frank Edward Bunker 1865–1944, who married Kate Becker.
Isaac Leslie Bunker 1866–1908, who married (1st) Georgia Willa Jewett. Georgia died in 1893. He married (2nd) Alice Myrtle Dakin.
