I find Lisa Porter's comments very interesting regarding the land outlined here. I have inherited a house in this 'estate' but unfortunately it is freehold and the leasehold owner seems to be absent. On the deeds the builder was George Stubbs and he joined with his brother in 1939 and the family business is still building to this day. However they have no records pertaining to the freeholder. Again deeds show the freeholder at build time was Burdon Investment Properties 33 Great Charles Street. Companies House have them ceasing trading around 1963 but show no records of any disbursements of any assets they held at the time. If anyone has any idea of companies in the area of Birmingham/Halesowen or the environs who may have a record of owning leases in the general area I would like to here from them.
According to old deeds to my mothers house dating to an abstract of other old documents which start in 1905 Harold George Uglow of 'Perrycroft' Perry Park rd Blackheath bought some land along with lots of other builders (Thomas Dallow of Guys Cliff Kidderminster rd Hagley, Ernest Parkes of 12 Darby Street Blackheath and Herbert Parks of Roslyn springfield rd Hlll and Samuel James Parkes of 'Fernlyn' springfield rd William Round of 'Linden Villa' springfield road hill and cakemore Edward Brocks Thomas of 'Hillcrest' Waterfall lane).
The land was approx 12 acres of land between Long Lane, Narrow Lane and Feldon lane and bordered Viscount Cobhams land. The land was sold by David George Eades (son of Elizabeth Eades) and Joseph Hewitt (friend of David Eades).
Prior to this it appears the land was owned by Right Honerable Charles George Viscount Cobham as a previous conveyance is referred to dated 13.9.1900 which transferred land to George Eades.
The builders then built the house on Newlands Drive (and I presume the rest of the estate on Newlands Drive) circa 1930 which once built was sold to Mr Fred Whittall of 154 Nimmings rd Blackheath for £60.
