Biography

THIS IS NOT NANCY BOWDEN (Bowden-1168). DO NOT MERGE WITH NANCY BOWDEN. NANCY BOWDEN MARRIED JONATHAN STOVER, NOT MOSES CARLTON. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON. Many people have used the same birth and death dates for these women, but they are not the same person.

Nancy BOWDEN m. Jonathan STOVER in 1799. Jonathan died in 1824. They had Isaac born in 1800. Nancy BOOTON m. Moses Carlton. Moses died in 1855. They had Lewis C. born in 1809. Moses outlived Nancy, and married again. For the two Nancy's to be the same person, they would need to be married to 2 people at the same time, having their children about the same time. This might be technically possible, but it's highly unlikely.

The maiden name for this Nancy (BOOTON) is from her son Lewis Carlton in his death record. [1]

Their daughter Mary Carleton (1815-1894) m. John Walker Gray (1812–1878) . Death record for Mary has not yet been located.

Find A Grave: Memorial #140899243, also has erroneously named her Nancy Bowden Carlton

Nancy Booton was born about 1785.

Nancy married Moses Carlton , son of Moses Carleton and Mary Webster, on 23 Nov 1808 [citation needed] in Maine. Their children were:

  1. Lewis C. Carleton (1809 - >1849)
  2. Mary W. (Carleton) Gray (1815 - 1894).

Nancy died on 1 Feb 1834[2][3] in Blue Hill, Hancock, ME aged ~49.
