Research Notes

Brandon

A book published in 2009[3] was source for a profile stating that Sarah, born 1737, was the daughter of Richard Brandon and Katherine Robinson. However, no proof of this is offered. The profile also stated that John Bryan "some say married first Jane Brandon, daughter of Richard Brandon and Katherine Robinson, in 1750," and was the mother of Jane m John Orton and John Jr. m Rebecca Orton (with a son John). "Jane was born in 1731 and died in 1758 in Rowan Co, NC at age 27." (No record of any Bryan-Brandon marriage that could have been for John and Sarah or Jane Brandon.) Proof that Sarah married John Bryan (son of Morgan Bryan born about 20 May 1671 and Martha Strode) as his second wife in 1758 in Orange County, Virginia and that they had 7 children,[4] all born in Rowan Co., North Carolina cannot be found (citation was to the will of John Bryan, which does not give a maiden name for his wife). The profile for Sarah Brandon (now merged into this one) had that she died before 5 November 1800 in Rowan County, North Carolina.[5] [6]

Unknown-210216 and Brandon-1518 do not represent the same person because: I don’t see any evidence that Sarah Brandon is the same as Sarah Unknown.
