Elizabeth Brownlow was born in 1803 to Richard Brownlow and Ann Leeke in Basford, Nottinghamshire. She was baptized 5 June 1803 in St. Leodegarius, Basford, Nottinghamshire.[1]
In 1841, she was living in Basford, Nottinghamshire, with twelve-year-old daughter Emila and five-year-old son Noah.[2]
In 1851, Elizabeth Brownlow and her children were living on Radford Road in Basford, Nottingham. She was listed as unmarried and an ironer of hosiery. The children were Emily, aged twenty, who was a seamstress of gloves; Noah, aged fifteen, and John, aged eight, who were both trimmers of hosiery, Ann, aged six, a scholar, and James, aged two, who was a actually a grandson.[3]
In 1861, the Elizabeth Brownlow family was living on Lincoln Square in Basford, Nottingham, when she was listed as unmarried and a hose ironer. The members of her household were daughter Emily, aged thirty-two, also a hose ironer; son John, aged nineteen, who was a bleacher; daughter Ann, aged sixteen, who was a hose mender; grandson James, aged thirteen, who was a coal miner; and grandson William, aged seven, a scholar.[4]
In 1871, Elizabeth Brownlow was living on Mill Street in Basford, Nottinghamshire. She was listed as a widow and an ironer. In her household were Emily, aged thirty-eight, also an ironer; Ann, aged twenty-four, a mender; James, aged twenty-one, a miner; William, aged sixteen, a bleacher; Albert, aged five, a scholar, and Arthur, aged two. All of them were listed as children, but the three youngest boys were grandson.[5]
In 1881, she was an eighty-four-year-old unmarried lace ironer living in the Union Workhouse in Basford, Nottinghamshire.[6] In both years, she was listed as a widow without occupation.
Elizabeth Brownlow died in December 1883 in Basford, Nottinghamshire, and she was buried 18 December 1883.[7]
