Ann was born before 1780, based on daughter's date of birth. She married Richard Culmer. Richard and Anne had the following children: Diannah, Thomas, Ann, Mary, Charles, Richard, Christiana, Katherine, Sophia, Samuel, John and Anne.[1]
Ann is mentioned in her husband's will:
"Page 220 – Richard CULMER of Glenelg, Eleu., wife ANN, 150 acres at Swamp? Hill, 50 acres of land to son Thomas’s three children Richard, David and Mary. In case those 3 die, the property goes to daughter Ann’s children. Gives 20 acres to Lucy Ann NOTTAGE but in case Lucy dies, property goes to daughter Ann’s children. Gives 20 acres to Maria Louisa NOTTAGE and also the remaining lot in Glenelg. If she dies and leaves no issue the 20 acres are divided between daughter Ann’s children. Gives Elizabeth MORTON 10 acres. Son-in-law Benjamin MORTON is sole exec. Signed 15 Jan 1852. Wit. John MINGO, William Dawson KNOWLES. Sworn 30 Apr 1855 by William Dawson KNOWLES." [2]
Research question: Could Richard's wife, Ann, whose maiden name is yet unknown, possibly have been a Nottage? There is obviously a connection between the couple and the Nottage family as Richard's will leaves land to several Nottage women.
