Biography

Sarah was born about 1737. Some people believe her name was Sarah White or Sarah Blake or Sarah Lowe, but none of these has been proven... ^[1]

Her maiden surname is not known. Some people think she was the daughter of Thomas Lowe, who was John Mauldin's guardian in Granville County, NC. Other people think she was a Blake and that was how Blake Mauldin got his name. Blake may actually have been John's brother, not his son, so this theory may be flawed. John Mauldin was a buyer at the estate of Jonathan White and this is the connection to the name White, but this is not proof. John Mauldin's most likely son was Harris Mauldin and the Harris family lived next to him in Granville so Harris is also a possible surname for Sarah, but at this time, no one knows what her maiden name was.
