DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Obadiah by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Obadiah:

Valentine-1962 and Valentine-1394 appear to represent the same person because: The names match, the estimated dates are similar, both lived in Essex County and/or Passaic Valley, New Jersey, and both had son named David (see connected son of Valentine-1962 and text of Valentine-1394). Please see if this is consistent with your information and consider merging them.

Do you have sources that show the son David (with children Richard W and Daniel D Valentine) is also the father of Nancy Valentine Broadwell?

On David's profile, there's a link to the Passaic Settlers book, p. 60. If you click on Preview, and look at the last entry (# 4) under Simeon, you will see the information there. It's a secondary source, but it is fairly contemporaneous.

I'm not sure if we need to keep the last paragraph in the bio, about birth date having low value. That was on the profile I had that was merged into this one. There seems to be more sources on this profile, although without links to easily check them, but the date of birth is probably more accurate than what is implied here.

Valentine-2232 should be merged with Valentine-1394 (Valentine-1394's profile manager has already approved the merge). Thank you.

Done! Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Don't know how I missed the request to merge. I have changed my notification settings!

Valentine-2232 and Valentine-1394 appear to represent the same person because: Obadiah's Will, Marriage Records, Genealogies of Long Island Families, Vol II, SAR applications and North America Family Histories (1500-2000) all document this Obadiah as a son of Richard Valentine (~1703-1766) and Phebe Haines (~1705-1783) and spouse(s) 1-Mary B. Mulford, 2-Elizabeth Baker Maxwell, and 3-Elizabeth. Children of Obadiah and Mary are Esther, William, Jonathan, Levi and Daniel. I am a descendent of Daniel.

Valentine-2036 and Valentine-1394 appear to represent the same person because: Death date is the same and matches information found elsewhere.
