Biography

Thomas Veitch was born in Scotland about 1765. He passed away 24 August 1830 at the age of sixty-five, buried in the Scotch Cemetery in Waddington Township. Possibly son of Thomas (John) VEITCH (1725–1808) and Margaret Betty Laidloe (1730–1780) (needs more research)

He married Isabel Turnbull who was born in 1768. Isabel died on 13 July 1849, aged eighty-one buried in the Scotch Cemetery in Waddington Township.

Thomas brought his wife and seven children to St. Lawrence County, New York, and they settled in Madrid Township.

  • Adam, b. 8 March 1803; d. 19 August 1862, bur. Scotch Cemetery, Waddington, New York; m. Ann Nesbitt who was born in 1811 and died on 23 August 1880. [3]
  • William, b. 4 July 1805; d. 8 April 1855, bur. Scotch Cemetery, Waddington, New York; m. (1) Jane Graham who was born about 1806, died on 30 September 1849, and was buried at Scotch Cemetery, Waddington; m. (2) Margaret Ferguson, who was born in 1822 and died in 1897. [4]
  • Robert, b. 27 March 1808; d. 1872 in Canada; m. Jane , who was born in 1826. [5]
  • Elizabeth, b. 23 November 1811 in Jedburgh Parish, Roxburghshire, Scotland.
  • Margaret, b. 1816; d. 10 November 1888 in Minnesota; m. Robert Nesbitt who was born in Scotland in 1816 and died on 8 January 1882 in Minnesota.
