Biography

May Venzor was born to Pablo Venzor and Natalia Hernández in Teas in 1891. IN 1913, she married Samuel Williams in California. They lived in San Diego, CA and had two sons, Ted and Danny in 1918 and 1920, respectively. Ted Williams was the Hall of Fame outfielder for the Boston Red Sox. May was known for her work with the Salvation Army, primarily across the border in Mexico, where she was known as "The Angel of Tijuana." She passed away in 1961 at the age of seventy.

This about May Williams from the book "Ted Williams, Season of the Kid" by Richard Kramer:

His mother was the strength of the family, a small woman with a will of steel who gave her life to the Salvation Army. She was always out on the streets of San Diego or south of the border. 'The Angel of Tijanua', out fighting the devil drink, selling the War Cry, or playing on the cornet, and God-blessing those who vouchsafed a nickel.[1]
