William Guerrant, I thought of another thing why this wasn't Richard Sr. He was not a lawyer but his nephew Richard was so this must have been Richard, not son Jr. but his nephew, that handled the case of Wlm Boston in 1799.

I did read that but it could have been his son Richard that did that. When he gave his son in laws power of attorney he stated he could no long manage things so gave them power to act on his behalf. So I am thinking he would not have been strong enough to do those dispositions and that it must have been Richard Jr.

According to Richard Vernon's deposition, he wrote the will in 1779. So it couldn't have been Richard, Jr., as he was only 4 years in 1779. Of course it could have been a different Richard Vernon, as you say.

("that in or abought the year one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine he was cald upon to wright a will for old Mr. William Boston...")

Richard Vernon was still alive in Madison County, Virginia on October 23, 1799, as he gave a deposition on that date in a chancery case concerning a will he wrote for William Boston in 1779. (https://www.lva.virginia.gov/chancery/full_case_detail.asp?CFN=113-1800-001#img)
