Indeed, it's one of those names, like Roelof, where anyone with the patronymic is assumed to be the child of so and so, and with Volkert it is Douw-1.

On second thought, my file may be in error by a generation, because the dates for supposed parents do not seem to fit. So it needs proper sources before connecting.

Here are the supposed parents of Dorothea Volkerts Douw:

Volckert Jansen Douw (abt. 1610 - 1683) and Dorothea Janse Breestede (abt. 1625 - 1661), married 19 Apr 1650 in New Amsterdam, NY

Volckert does have a child Dorothea Volckertse Douw listed in the bio, so that may be the original source of the assumption that this Dorothea is the same girl.

My desktop file shows Dorothea as daughter of Volckert Douw (son of Jan) and Dorothea Van Breestede (dau. of Jan Van Breestede and Engeltje Janse)

I am not sure if we have WikiTree profiles for any of those people, but we probably do, somewhere in Dutch Roots.

I did find those parents right away in a Google search, so I am going to go ahead and connect them.

Volckers-5 and Volkerts-3 appear to represent the same person because: This is the oldest maternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge into the NNS PPP. No tree conflicts. Add aka Volckers. Thanks!
