FIRST - There were many years where many David Walkers that were all merged up into one on people's family trees. It took a while to straighten it out. So I want to list them here in case someone else is also looking for information on a David Walker. Maybe it will help them.
This David Crockett Walker is NOT David Crokett Walker (1850-1941) son of John Talley Walker (1825-1900) and Narcissus Agnes Agnew (1825-1902) and husband to Alcena Etna 'Allie' Moyer (1858-?). This is a very common mistake as both Davids were born in Missouri and died in Washington and have the same middle name, even though spelled differently.
He is also NOT David Crocket Walker son of Abraham Walker (1817-1888) and Leah Elizabeth Capps (1817-1880) and husband to Margaret 'Peg' Adams (1843-1933). Another very common mixup.
He is also NOT David Crocket Walker (1871-1934) son of Andrew Jackson Walker (1845-1877) and Mary Elizabeth Adaline Smithson (1847-1898) and husband to Melissa Kizarah Cooley (1866-?).
He is also NOT David Crockett Walker (1829-1903) son of John Jeremiah Walker (1785-1849) and Sarah Elizabeth Gates (1790-1887) and husband of Virginia Ann Leggett (1849-1920).
Now. Most of those above are related to each other, cousins of a sort. I will find (or create) their profiles on here and link them all up so that the relations can all be seen...eventually! That is a lot of work. But I do hope this helps other people sort out their David Crockett Walkers!

When David Crockett Walker was born on June 12, 1852, in Springfield, Missouri, his father, Archibald, was 72 and his mother, Dicey, was 41. (This was his father's second marriage)
Most trees list Archibald as passing away in 1855 in Kentucky and Dicey as passing in 1865 in Missouri. But no proof of either.
I DO often wonder though if Archibald passed away in Missouri as Archibald and Dicey's youngest child, David, was not born in Kentucky like their other children, but was born in Missouri, so I think they moved there first. But it is possible that Dicey got pregnant and then Archibald died, and so Dicey moved to Missouri to be with other family and then had David...I really don't know.
David's father, Archibald, doesn't show in the 1860 census, so he must have passed by then? David was 9 in 1860 so he could have lost his father before the age of 9.
I have not found David and/or his mother in the 1870 census yet. So I don't know anything about Dicey after 1860 but she could have lived a ways beyond 1860 as she would have been only in her early 50's in 1860.

David was a hard worker and had a 120 acre farm in Barry County, Missouri. But he was very strict and stern with his children and really did not know how to show affection. My grandmother said that her father, Henry (one of David's sons), often mentioned this.
David passed away in 1932 while staying with his daughter Laura Jane (Walker) Jones and her family in Lowden, Walla Walla, Washington.
He is buried in the old Sunnyside Cemetery next to his wife Mary.
The only thing he would say about his family, to his children and grandchildren, was "I was orphaned while young"...sure made searching for his information and family difficult in the past!
After years of searching through ALL of the David Walkers in Missouri (and getting a good possible but never actually sure...), we finally had some DNA tests done and found match results to other Walkers and we were able to put David with his family again! Thank heaven for DNA testing!
