THANKS for adding / working on your Fortenberry ancestors. It's always great to have more of "the family" add missing trees or branches to this amazing group! I hope you are finding help, and useful suggestions from the group..... as well as helping us in return by introducing us to "missing family" and expanding the Fortenberry (and our various Last-Name spellings) family tree. My DNA was processed at FTDNA and then uploaded to GED-match.
I KNOW this is a little late.... but WELCOME to WikiTree.... and I hope you enjoy your membership!
Thanks for the welcome! It's never too late to say hello. I appreciate all you and your family have done to try to untangle the mess that is the Faulkenberry/Fortenberry/Van Valkenburg, etc., etc. lineage.
OOOHHH.... you have no idea!! But from the side-line, I can honestly say that it has been one awesome journey. Not only in the 70's listening to Mom, Dad and Andie ("discussing??") planning the book, being excited about their discoveries and enjoying their trips out to Mississippi to gather family histories, but also NOW listening to and reading about Andie's newest discoveries!! It's been a whole beautiful family history lesson.
Now.... with Mom and Dad gone... Andie works her magic (YES, she "got all the brains"!!) as she works through understanding DNA and presenting her latest findings on her blog site.
Andie will be at the NAVVF (National Association of Van Valkenburg Families) meeting this weekend in Huntsville, Alabama.... and they surprised her...she was asked to give a talk!! I won't be there... wish I was, Andie is so animated and funny....but I think I will "protect" my health a little longer.
OH DEAR.... I chat too long. AWESOME to chat with you!!! Take care!
Teresa
My husband John A. Turner is related to Sweet James A Mathis & his wife are Johns 2nd gt grandparents. John has had DNA from Ancestry & from FT the whole y-test. Could you please tell or help me connect his tests to the Sweet family. My grandmother came from Norway.
Hi Ron! I noticed changes that you're making to Hall profiles. Have you been collaborating on your changes? (For example, you removed Hall-38235 as the daughter of one John Hall and attached her to a profile for John Hall that you created... Two John Halls born c1830s in Canada, each claiming the same daughter, would indicate the two profiles are intended to represent the same person. In those cases, you'd want to merge the John Hall profiles, not replace one with the other.)
WikiTree is a single global tree, so each person should only have one profile. For more information about merging duplicates, please see Help:Merging.
If you haven't yet checke out the New Member How-Tos, they provide more info about WikiTree.
Thanks for joining us! I hope you're enjoying our site and our community. I just wanted to check in and see how things are going. Have the New Member How-Topages been helpful or left you with questions?
It's great to have you on board. Enjoy your time here, and good luck growing your branches. If you need help just click on my name you'll be transferred to my profile where you can post a message or send me a private message.
Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
Based on your tags the Canadian_History Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to review other possibilities. Read the goals and tasks of the projects and join those which are a good fit.
Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.
Thanks for volunteering! You are now a full member of the WikiTree community, and can start adding your family. Let me know if you have any questions.
Since WikiTree is different from other genealogy sites, we have a guided tour for new members at New Member How-To. Feel free to work through the How-Tos at your own pace.
Once you add profiles to WikiTree they become searchable and in my experience persons interested in these profiles will contact you and may provide further information to expand your family tree.
Great to have you on board, enjoy, and good luck growing your branches.
