Margaret E was born in 1819. She is the daughter of John Ward and Jane H Davis. In 1835 she married James Madison Davis with whom she had five children the last of which arrived after his father's death. In 1847 she married Alfred H Atkins with whom she had three children. When Alfred died in 1854, she continued to live on the farm assisted by two of her sons. She died in 1899 and was buried in Atkins, Smyth County, Virginia.
