15 Mar 2015 Birth* circa 1746 Sophia was born circa 1746 at Northampton Co, VA.  Marriage* circa 1767 She married John Taylor (bricklayer), son of James (of Thos) Taylor, circa 1767 at Accomack Co, VA.2  Married Name circa 1767 As of circa 1767,her married name was Taylor.  Will - Father's* 6 February 1779 Sophia was named in her father's will on 6 February 1779 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as a daughter Sophia Taylor in the will of Michael Ward..1  Will - Husb's* 25 May 1779 Sophia was named in her husband's will on 25 May 1779 at tract A64, Locustville, Accomack Co, VA. In his will John Taylor, bricklayer, wife Sophia, named son George (under age), sons Thomas and Peter Taylor and a daughter Sophia Custis. A land cause also shows a son William, his eldest son & heir at law by a first marriage.3,2  Will - Son's* 17 December 1804 Sophia was named in her son's will on 17 December 1804 at Accomack Co, VA. In his will George Taylor of John mentioned a mother Sophiah Taylor, a son Charles Taylor and the rest of my children. (NOTE: A land cause shows the rest of his children were Polly Taylor, Sally Taylor & Betsy Taylor.)4,2  Land cause* 14 May 1805 She was named in a land cause on 14 May 1805 at tract A64, Locustville, Accomack Co, VA. Taylor's Lessee vs Taylor. That John Taylor, deceased, father of the lessor of the plaintiff, was in his lifetime seized as of fee of and in the land and tenements in the declaration mentioned, and being so seized on the 9 Apr. 1779, made his last will & testament in these words: (abstract) To wife Sophia Taylor all my land where I now live until my son George Taylor comes to lawful age, and then to return to George Taylor. To wife all the household goods that she brought with her from her father's &c. To son Thomas Taylor. To son Peter Taylor; to son William Taylor; to dau. Sophia Custis; that said will was proved 25 May, 1779; that the said John Taylor at the time of his death left issue by his first marriage William Taylor, his eldest son & heir, Thomas B. Taylor, the lessor of the plaintiff, and Peter Taylor, and a daughter Sophia Custis, sons and daughter of the first venter, and George Taylor a son of the second venter, to whom the lands in the said will mentioned were devised when he should come to lawful age; that Sophia Taylor, the widow of the said John Taylor, entered into the said lands after his decease and was possessed therewith according to the said will till the said George Taylor came to lawful age; that the said George Taylor came to lawful age the ____ day of ____ 1789, and then entered upon the said land and was seized thereof subject to the dower of the said Sophia; that the said George Taylor being so seized died on the ____ day of December, 1804, leaving issue Polly Taylor, Sally Taylor, & Betsy Taylor, to whom he devised said lands by his will; that the said William Taylor, the eldest son and heir at law of the said John Taylor died intestate and without issue on the ____ day of ____ 1781, leaving the said Thomas B. Taylor, the lessor of the plaintiff, his eldest brother and heir at law, who after the death of the said George entered upon the possession of the defendants into the said land, subject to the dower of the said Sophia, claiming the reversion thereof as undisposed of by the will of the said John Taylor deceased.2  Family
