Biography

Rachel Watkins was born on 3 December 1758 (Unsourced) in Wales, the daughter of David Watkins and Jane Turner. Rachel and her family came from Wales and settled in Pennsylvania.  She married Samuel Watt in about 1780 in Bucks, Pennsylvania. After marriage, they moved to Kentucky and settled near Hodgenville in 1786, in a fort in LaRue County on the Nolin River.  They moved to Green County, Kentucky in 1794 and later moved to Warren County and settled near Sand Hill.

Samuel Watts’ will is on record in Edmonson County, Kentucky, dated 1826. He wills $75.00 to his grandson, Samuel W. Cowles, the rest to be divided aming eight children: Elizabeth Bell, John Watt, Casepha Brown, Joseph Watt, Nancy Flippin, Gabriel Watt, Elsie Mills and James Watt. The Administrator was John Watt. Witnesses were: William Ford, Henry Cowlesand Vincent Cowles.
