James was born 1 Feb 1837, the son of David Griffith Watkins and Elizabeth Ann Tresler.[1][2][3][4] He fought on the side for independence in the War of Northern Aggression.[5][6][7][8][9] He married Ida Louise Steers on 1 May 1861 in Alexandria. James died on 20 Oct 1885.[10][11][12]
