I believe he was born in Georgia to William Watson and Abigail Torrence.
He was "one of the substantial exponents of plantation industry in [Livingston] parish.
I think he was the Louis Watson listed in the 1840 St. Helena Parish census with a household of 5 males and 2 females. Ages 0-5, 5-10, 20-30, 30-40, 40-50, 0-5, and 20-30, respectively.
In the 1850 census he was listed as born in Louisiana in 1807. He is living with North Ann, age 37; William, age 17; Abigail, age 11; Lewis T., age 7; Ellen Bowman, age 18; and Charity Powell, age 42. Charity Powell was Lewis' sister. The value of his real estate was listed as 4,040 dollars.
In the 1870 census he was also listed as born in Louisiana. His real estate was valued at 1,000 dollars and his personal estate was valued at 500 dollars. Other members of his household were Northann, age 57; Margret, age 19; Ellen, age 11; and two farm hands: Thom. Dunlapt, age 56, born Ohio; and George Indent, age 21, born in Louisiana. His household was recorded between the households of 27 year-old Lewis Watson (married to Mary), and 35 year-old William Watson who seems to be a widower.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Lewis by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Lewis:
