Biography

Mary Ann Watson, daughter of of David and Rebecca (Bryan) Watson, was born February 25, 1793 in Pennsylvania.[1]

On the sixteenth day of August 1814 "Jacob Dailey and Marcy Whatson" were married by William Dement, J.P. in Cambridge, Guernsey Co., Ohio.[2]

The 1850 U.S. Federal Census records Jacob Dailey, aged 59 born in PA, living in District 13, Wapello County, Iowa, with wife Mary A., aged 58 born in PA. He is a farmer with real estate value of $700. Mary A. is not able to read or write. There are 4 children listed in the home: Jacob Jr. aged 23 born in OH; Phebe aged 21 born in OH; Moses M. aged 20 born in OH; and Elizabeth aged 14 born in IL. There is also listed a Rachel A. Miller aged 3 born in IA.[3]

The 1860 U.S. Federal Census lists Jacob Dailey, aged 69 born in PA, living in Yell Township, Boone County, Iowa. The Post Office is Boonsboro. He is a farmer with real estate value of $1900 and personal property of $400. In his household is his wife Mary A., aged 67 born in PA. Mary A. is recorded as not able to read or write. Rachel A. Miller aged 12 is also listed in the home.[4]

Mary Ann Watson Dailey died October 21, 1860 at 67 years of age. She was buried in Bluff Creek Cemetery, Boone, Boone Co., Iowa.[5]
