Biography

The biography for Mysie Georgina Watson is empty. What can you add? I put my biography in the sources section. And have been told to copy and paste it into sources but alas I seem to have a mental block re learning how. To cut and paste,,,,it's been on my to do list for years

Sources

  • First-hand information. Entered by Mysie Georgina Watson at registration.

I was born with the name Mysie pronounced (Myzee) which is Gaelic for Margaret or Marion(?),,,anyway at the age of 30 or so I went with "Margaret"

I was born in Toronto,Ontario Canada, January 25th,1948 to William Angus E.Watson and Jean Grace Brodie) Murphy.

I was told that it was a name passed down in the matriarchal line,,,,for example my mother referred to my Aunt Marion Craig (Brodie) Murphy as your "Auntie Mysie". I was also told that it was a name given to the oldest girl, and my older sister Lynda said she is grateful she didn't get it because my mother was sick when she was born and my father William Angus E Watson named her Lynda.

Mysie is my legal first name on my birth certificate so I was surprised to see that my Auntie 'Mysie's' legal first name is Marion.

The first time I ever heard my name referenced to someone else (other than myself or my Aunt) was at the age of 19 when I was watching a movie about Bonnie Prince Charlie(actually the tv was just running in the background while I was doing something else and WOW,,,,what an experience to actually hear my unique name within that context. Mysie(in the movie) was a servant girl,,,alas no relation to 'Charlie.......update March 20,2020....it would seem I indeed might be related to Bonnie Prince Charlie along with a whole slew of Royal Toffs and notables!!!

Now that I have become so overwhelmed with the plethora of my mostly paternal ancestors which reach back thru decades of double digit generations.......I am thinking it's time to spend more time on the more challenging task of tracing my children's Jewish roots.

It is sometimes a sad and frustrating journey but I promised my husband's grandmother approx 50 years ago that I wouldn't let my children forget who they were and where they came from,,,,,,

Perhaps I can start an Ostroweic (pr. Ostrovitz) Poland project

Hi and thank you for being a member of the Jewish Roots Project! I wanted to let you know about some new things we have going on.

- You can see new tabs at the top of our home page, where you can select topics to view or work on. You can also use our new maintenance categories - feel free to add them to your own family, or any other Jewish Roots profile, or work on the maintenance yourself, such as adding new records to profiles with only a couple sources.-I'm sending an invitation to join GoogleGroups, which we are re-starting this week. We'll probably do most group chat there, but the most important things will be posted on G2G, which you will be notified about if you follow the jewish_roots tag.

-You can also join Wikitree's discord server, where we have a Jewish Roots chat channel.

-If you have ideas or suggestions for the project, feel free to reply here or send me a message.

Thank you! -Elaine, co-leader for Jewish Roots Project

Re Daniel Hamil born 1773,,,,,besides the link to family search,,,,I just checked my ancestry account and I have six records for him there but I don't know how to link them here,,,if you pm me your email I could send you the ancestry profile
Dear maggie, hope this finds you well.i am in process of updating the volumes of names, dates, places in data I found on ancestry.com back in 2012 for the descendants of Joseph Hamill and jane crozier.beware that records for the Hamill's are also found under hammil and hammill.i made about 20 pp of notebook pages of notes that someone in the Hamill family had researched and posted on ancestry.com.this data does not appear on my wikitree not does it appear on my tree on my heritage.com. The original source tree on ancestry.com no longer exists.so,I think that my notes are the only documents of this Hamill data.when I find my old notebook,I shall give you a heads up so you can check the changes to my Hamill data.you can see in my tree that I have the most data on Jane Hamill,George hall and their issue.jane Hamill is the eldest child of Daniel Hamill and Martha McKee.one favor I ask of you.check all of your notes, sources, scribblings for dates and places of birth and death for both Daniel Hamill and Martha McKee hamill.i can't find anything for Daniel except the 1861 census which list his dob as 3-4-1773.what do you find?? 1773-1861.....my ancestry profile on Daniel has got quite a bit,,,but I am spelling his name with one L.....and one m.I have to stop now but will resume later,,,so sorry to take so long to respond try googling that spelling Andover and did at ancestry
Hi Bob,

I think you are referring to my Hamil Family Tree on Ancestry. You and I were corresponding about the Hamils in 2012 and 2013. My tree isn't gone, I've just changed the name to Hamil-Smith (I've started adding my dad's side to the tree, so I changed the tree name to reflect that). My Ancestry account is under p_crossno1, whereas my WikiTree account is using my maiden name of Smith, so my name here may not look familiar. I tried emailing you some years ago, but never heard back. Glad to reconnect :-)

Hi Maggie,

Isn't interesting what you can find on Wikitree? What is Eleanor's profile number? I would like to visit her. On my Mother's side, Edward Plantagenet (Longshanks, Hammer of the Scots), Plantagenet-2, is my 22nd G Grandfather. Robert de Brus, Bruce-129, is my 23rd Cousin.

Hello, Maggie, I'm so sorry I missed your message in G2G long ago now. I hope to see some activity in letting your Jewish family make its presence on our site. In my case I have a whole tree for them, but I haven't found out how to connect it to my existing tree. The leaders of WTree want that BECAUSE we are in a collaborative venture to make a One World Family tree. Is there anything I can do to help you? or Bob Hvitfeldt, who is now the leader of the Jewish Roots Project, which I see our larger Leader Michael Maranda has opened a place for you pretty recently.

PLEASE Change your bio information that is in your Sources section to your BIOGRAPHY Section by simple "copy-cut-paste".

Hi!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Shirley Dalton, WikiTree Mentor

Thank you. I understand - it makes me quite sad as well. It's a rough part of our history, but it's history nonetheless. Thanks for your support and encouragement!
Hi Maggie,

Thanks for contacting me. Let me know more about your Orr ancestors. My Orr's came from County Down NI and my Great Grandparents settled in Goderich, Ontario, Canada.

Hi Mysie,

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.

Margaret
