Biography

Elizabeth (Watson) Faulks was an Assisted Immigrant to New South Wales.
Elizabeth (Watson) Faulks came free to the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)

Elizabeth Watson was born in Bourne, Lincolnshire, in about 1840 and baptised 29 Nov 1840.[1] At the age of 14 she came to Australia with her parents and siblings as assisted immigrants on the Ellenborough[2] and settled in the Jamberoo district.

Elizabeth married George Faulks in 1860 at Jamberoo.[3]

She died at Bomaderry, NSW, in 1938 at the age of 97. Her death notices gave her age as 98.[4][5] She was buried at the Jamberoo general cemetery.[6]

Obituary

Mrs Elizabeth Faulks[7]

The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Faulks (mother of Mrs. D. Steele, of Bomaderry) occurred on Monday last at the advanced age of 98 years. The deceased lady was the widow of the late George Faulks, of Jamberoo. Prior to coming to reside with her daughter at Nowra, she spent several years in the Dapto district. Retaining all her faculties to a remarkable degree, the old lady persisted in leading an active and useful domestic life until the "sands of life" were fast running out. After a service held in the Nowra Presbyterian Church, the funeral cortege left for the Jamberoo general cemetery, where the mortal remains were placed with those of her husband. The Rev. J. H. G. Auld, B.A., an old friend of the family, conducted the Iast sacred rites at the graveside.
