Elizabeth was born about 1637, probably at Stamford, Fairfield County, Connecticut to parents Jonas Weed and Mary Unknown.[1] Elizabeth was probably born at Stamford, but a record of her birth has not been found. Jonas Weed and family first settled at Watertown, then by 1635 at Wethersfield, and by 1642 at Stamford, Connecticut.[1]
Elizabeth died on 8 October 1676 at Rye, Westchester County, New York.[citation needed]
Research Notes
John Rockwell of Stamford (who was probably the husband of Elizabeth Weed) was determined not to have been the son of John Rockwell, 1635 immigrant Hopewell to Windsor, CT (sources below). However there is a close DNA relationship between these two families. Windsor John's brother, Richard Rockwell, is known to have had at least one son who immigrated to New England; perhaps this is the connection.[2] John Rockwell of Windsor also had a brother William at Windsor, and there was a Josiah Rockwell at Norwalk. Descendants of these have also shown to be closely related to John Rockwell of Stamford.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elizabeth by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elizabeth:
Weed-557 and Weed-44 do not represent the same person because: In biography ofprofile #557 under marriage, husband is Jonas Weed In profile #44 has John Rockwell as husband.
